Youth coaches
Youth coaches make sure our young members can play safely. To do so we follow the NOC*NSF code of conduct for coaches. It applies to everyone who supervises youth members.
- We discuss the code of conduct with all youth coaches every year.
- We ask all coaches for a certificate of conduct (VOG), renewed every four years.
- For a new trainer we also ask other sports clubs for references.
The code of conduct in short
A coach:
- creates an environment and atmosphere in which players feel safe;
- treats players with respect and does not intrude on their private life further than necessary;
- does not abuse their position and refrains from any form of (sexual) intimidation;
- never has sexual contact or relationships with players under 16;
- does not touch players in a way that could be experienced as sexual or intimate;
- refrains from sexually charged verbal intimidation in any form;
- treats players with respect during training, matches and trips;
- protects players from harm and helps find a solution when something goes wrong;
- does not give or accept inappropriate rewards or gifts;
- addresses others whose behaviour breaks these rules and reports warning signs;
- acts in the spirit of these rules when a situation is not covered by them.
